Huawei Launches End-to-End TDFi Solution at 2012 LTE World Summit
Huawei today launched an end-to-end TDFi solution at 2012 LTE World Summit. With TDFi, end users can access LTE TDD networks with any WiFi-enabled devices to enjoy high-speed mobile data services. The advent of mobile broadband has seen the demand for high-speed data services rapidly increase. But while LTE TDD commercialization has been steadily progressing, availability of compatible devices has been lagging.
To rTraditional WiFi networks utilize wired transmissions, which causes a lack of transmission resources and a lengthy deployment process. The TDFi solution adopts LTE TDD wireless backhaul instead of wired backhaul to solve the last-mile problem of WLAN deployment. Compared to traditional WiFi networks, the TDFi solution helps operators achieve rapid, low-cost deployment and supports WiFi user authentication and billing.
In March this year, China Mobile took the lead in organizing a China Mobile Happy LTE TDD Network Experience activity Hangzhou. Using Huawei's TDFi solution, people riding in buses could experience rapid and stable LTE TDD data services using WiFi-enabled smartphones. Speeds for the LTE TDD network kept steadily above 30Mbps, 20 times that of the UMTS network.
Huawei's TDFi solution not only helps operators achieve commercial success, but also boasts an important social significance. TDFi can realize hotspot coverage on buses, which will enable further green transportation development. In the near future, the TDFi solution will enable LTE TDD to enrich people's mobile communications in medical care, information sharing, mobile video and community management among others.
