Industry experts are set to take to the stage to discuss the latest innovations in subsea technology at Subsea UK’s Underwater Robotics conference this month (September). The annual one day event will examine the new technology being developed by the industry and the benefits that using innovative robotics can bring to underwater operations.

Principal sponsor is ROVOP with additional sponsorship coming from Saab Seaeye, Sonardyne, Ashtead Technology, Viewport3, Rovco and Seatronics, the Underwater Robotics conference will take place from 9am to 4pm at the Chester Hotel on Thursday, 19th September.

Companies presenting on the day will include; Seatronics, Sonardyne, Oceaneering International, i-Tech 7, ROVOP and Viewport3. There will be presentations on UV optical modems, autonomous inspection technologies, and lightweight observation ROVs.

Eric Primeau, Senior Technical Specialist at BP will be giving an overview of BP’s experience and future path to 2025 where the vision is to undertake all underwater asset inspection employing unmanned remotely operated systems.

The Head of Innovation for the UK Defence Solutions Centre (UKDSC), David Wotherspoon, will also be speaking at the event. He will provide an overview of the cross-sector work that has been developed between Subsea UK, NSRI and UKDSC covering subsea technologies that are common across the underwater sectors.

Neil Gordon, Chief Executive of Subsea UK, said: “Underwater robotics is an area which is constantly evolving and growing. The variety of presentations from our speakers this year demonstrates the wealth of opportunities which exist in the field and each areas of technology being discussed has the potential to bring major cost and efficiency benefits to offshore operations.

“Overall, the conference aims to provide a forum to share ideas, discuss the latest technological advances and to support industry as it looks to integrate these technologies into mainstream operations.”
