Texas Instruments have elected Ambassador Ron Kirk, former United States Trade Representative (USTR) under President Barack Obama, to TI's board of directors. This will become effective September 19. Ambassador Kirk currently serves as Senior Of Counsel in the Dallas and Washington, D.C. offices of the global law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
Rich Templeton, TI's chairman, president and CEO, commented: we are very excited to have Ron join our board. The market that TI operates in today is an international one that crosses borders on every continent. Ron's recent experience as the nation's lead representative and negotiator on international trade policies, as well as his prior experience in private practice focused on public finance and public policy, give him a perspective that is highly relevant to our business and new to our boardroom.

Ambassador Kirk, 59, joined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in April 2013. From 2009-2013, he served as a member of President Obama's cabinet as USTR, where he was responsible for the development and oversight of U.S. trade policy and served as principal trade advisor, negotiator and spokesperson on all trade issues. Prior to becoming USTR, Ambassador Kirk was a partner at the global law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP, where his practice focused on public finance and public policy. Earlier, he served as mayor of Dallas from 1995-2001. In total, Ambassador Kirk's distinguished career spans more than 25 years of diverse legislative and economic experience at the federal, state and local levels.

Ambassador Kirk earned a bachelor of arts degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

In addition to his proven skills in problem solving and working across boundaries to get things done, Ron's track record shows him to be a leader who brings an independent perspective and a constructive style to deliberations. His proven leadership at all levels of government will make him an astute and valued contributor to our board deliberations, said Christine Todd Whitman, chair of the board's governance and stockholder relations committee.
