Focus EDL, the leading electronic components distributor specializing in providing the communications and high-performance datacoms industries with a broad range of products from the United States, Asia and Europe, announces its appointment as a franchised distributor by Chiplus, leaders in the design and manufacture of high speed, super low power memory products.
The appointment, which covers the UK and Ireland, has immediate effect and continues the company’s policy of adding leading edge devices to its product portfolio which includes Pulse, Metalink and Tibbo. Focus EDL is also the company behind the recently announced IC4me, the Internet-based component sourcing facility.

Commenting on the appointment, Focus EDL’s Managing Director Geoff Philpot said, “Adding Chiplus to our line up will increase our ability to provide customers with an exact solution for their application. Specialist memory manufacturers like Chiplus seem to be more capable of producing devices that really do combine very high speed with very low power consumption and these are features very much in demand by customers working to develop portable products. With our tech support capability and the extent of the Chiplus offering, we look forward to helping our customers make the most of these exciting products.”

Typical of the Chiplus product range is the CS26LV16163, a 16Mbit pseudo SRAM that features a standby current of 30mA and a maximum access time of 85ns in 3V operation. Other products in the Chiplus portfolio include SRAM+MROM “combo chips”, SRAMs and SRAM+Flash devices.
