S-video is increasingly being phased out in many of today’s video product platforms and 4-Channels are becoming a standard output configuration. Fairchild Semiconductor is enabling designers to accommodate this transition, with a 4-Channel integrated video filter that supports the set-top-box and DVD markets.
Operating at 8 MHz, this 4-Channel video filter, the FMS6144A, offers robust ESD protection of 9kV, protecting applications from adverse electrostatic discharge events and eliminating the need for discrete protection devices. The product also provides a 3V supply option so designers can use this in either 5V or 3V systems. This device is capable of having inputs AC or DC coupled, saving 10 percent board space and reducing design complexity by eliminating eight additional components.

The FMS6144A complements the FMS6143 3-Channel device and FMS6145 5-Channel device and is another addition to the industry’s largest selection of video filters. This innovative portfolio of video filter products, supporting standard and high definition video applications and portable multimedia devices, is uniquely positioned to provide integrated products supporting the entire range of video standards and channel configurations, while allowing the designer to replace multiple discrete components and conserve valuable board space.
