In Her Majesty the Queen’s new year honours for 2015, Paul Mascarenas, FISITA President, has been awarded the OBE for his services to the automotive industry. This honour recognises British citizens who have made an outstanding contribution in their area of activity or service, either locally or abroad.

Paul Mascarenas commented: “To be recognised in this way is not only a tremendous honour for me personally, but it’s a testimony to the many talented and committed people that I have had the opportunity to work with over the course of my career. I hope that it will help inspire the next generation of engineers, while at FISITA it will encourage us to continue expanding the reach of our STEM programmes and promoting careers in Automotive Engineering.”

He has previously served as Chief Technical Officer and Vice President, Ford Motor Company, leading Ford’s global research organisation and overseeing the development and implementation of the company’s technology strategy. In his work for Ford, Paul also led the establishment of the company’s Silicon Valley Research and Innovation Centre, supporting a vision to provide uncompromised personal mobility for people around the world.

As FISITA President, Paul continues this mission of driving the future of personal mobility, presenting lectures around the world that address the social and economic trends that the automotive industry will face in the future.

Chris Mason, Chief Executive of FISITA, said, “This honour reflects Paul’s commitment to the automotive industry throughout his long and accomplished career. His current role as President of FISITA demonstrates his contribution and status within the automotive engineering community. For Paul to receive an OBE is a fantastic personal achievement for him and also a great opportunity for us to demonstrate how the modern motor industry can provide talented engineers with fabulous career pathways.”
