First Chinese carmaker joins MOSTCO

The MOST Cooperation (MOSTCO), the standardisation organisation for the leading automotive multimedia network MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport), is delighted to welcome the FAW Group as its first Chinese carmaker member.

FAW Group is a Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Changchun, Jilin, China. The principal products of this leading global manufacturer are quality passenger cars, light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, buses and auto parts. Established in 1953, the company is China's oldest and largest automotive group. FAW became China's first automobile manufacturer when it unveiled the nation's first domestically produced passenger car, the Hong Qi, in 1958. Annual sales exceed 1m units. FAW sells products under at least ten different brands including its own.

MOST is a multimedia networking technology optimised for use in cars and other applications. It enables the transport of high quality of service audio and video together with packet data and real-time control over a single transmission medium. MOST can use Plastic Optical Fibres (POF), coax based electrical physical layer, and shielded and unshielded twisted pair copper wires that meet automotive environmental requirements. Today, MOST is used in over 170 car models as the communication backbone for their information and entertainment equipment.
