Finisar Corporation, known for its fiber optic solutions for high-speed communication networks, announced the achievement of a record-setting industry milestone - 10 million optical transceivers/transponders shipped in calendar year 2006, up nearly 30% over the previous year.
We are proud of our reputation as the leading optics supplier and industry innovator in the network communications industry, said Jerry Rawls, President and CEO of Finisar. We are especially excited about Finisar's strong growth in the 10-40Gig market for metro and telecom applications. We
think the acquisitions of Kodeos and AZNA will enable us to develop new products for the telecom/metro market and greatly expand the size of our addressable market.

Finisar manufactures a wide range of transceivers/transponders, based on XFP, SFP, SFF, X2, XPAK, 300-pin, GBIC, and 1x9 form factors. Increasing demands for advanced, high-speed data applications, including IP video, voice over IP, wireless communications and enterprise storage and remote
disaster recovery applications have driven the demand for optical transceivers. The innovative design of Finisar pluggable transceivers delivers reduced power consumption and pay-as-you-go flexibility.

With a significant share of the optical transceiver market from a unit perspective, Finisar is truly a leader in the optics components business, said Roy Rubenstein, research director, LightCounting, an industry research firm focused on the transceiver market. The milestone they have achieved
not only demonstrates Finisar's ability to supply its customers with the right product and right specifications at the right time, but also indicates the company's ability to innovate and drive optical
communications.
