Fairchild Semiconductor has donated a kitchen to a local initiative of SOS Children’s Villages in Germany. The appliances were part of an energy-efficient demonstration and consisted of a refrigerator, washing machine, sink, range hood and cabinets.
The donation was delivered to the SOS family-gathering facility “Zwergenschloss”, i.e. the “Dwarf Castle”. This SOS family-gathering facility encourages individuals and families to take part in many aspects of social life. The facility provides gatherings, creative and cultural programs as well as activities to encourage exercise, relaxation, health and family strengthening, all aimed at drawing visitors out of their isolation. The SOS family-gathering facility was founded on initiative of the SOS Counseling Center Cottbus and financed by SOS-Kinderdorf e.V.

“On behalf of everyone here at the family-gathering facility ‘Zwergenschloss’, I wish to thank Fairchild Semiconductor for generously donating a kitchen for our facility,” said Simone Pflaum, director of Zwergenschloss, an initiative by SOS-Kinderdorf e.V.

“It is important for businesses to support community programs, and we are very pleased to be able to donate the kitchen equipment to the Zwergenschloss. The initiative by SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. has an excellent record of identifying and providing help to children and families in distress,” said Ole-Petter Brusdal, Fairchild’s vice president Europe Sales & Marketing. “Our employees worldwide participate in a variety of community projects to help our friends and neighbors in our local communities.”

SOS Children's Villages is an independent, non-governmental social development organization which has been working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children since 1949. Children without parental care and children at risk of losing the care of their parents are the focus of our work. SOS Children's Villages and SOS youth facilities are now home to over 80,000 children and adolescents on all continents. Hundreds of thousands of people benefit from our educational, social, medical and emergency relief programmes.
