EN 55032:2012 EMC standard is now in force

Ideal Power Ltd would like to make you aware of the most recent changes within the dynamic regulatory environment of electronics, which could effect you. As of 5^th March 2017, EN 55032:2012, the standard for Electromagnetic compatibility of multimedia equipment - Emission requirements, came into force affecting the 1999/5/EC, 2004/108/EC, 2014/30/EU, 2014/53/EU Directives. This new standard redefines and updates the criteria for certain electrical products that have to meet the above listed directives.

The implementation of this new directive means that the following standards have been superseded with a Date of Withdrawal (DOW) of 5^th March 2017:

EN 55022:2010 - Information technology equipment (ITE) - Radio disturbance characteristics - Limits and methods of measurement (and its revision, EN 55022:2010/AC:2011)
EN 55013:2013 – Sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment - Radio disturbance characteristics - Limits and methods of measurement
EN 55103-1:2009 - Electromagnetic compatibility - Product family standard for audio, video, audio-visual and entertainment lighting control apparatus for professional use - Part 1: Emissions (and its revision, EN 55103-1:2009/A1:2012)

Products which fall within the categories listed above must now conform to EN 55032:2012, as this implements the new European standard.

Please note that non-conformance of EMC legislation can lead to costly penalties and possibly imprisonment.

The DOW of EN 55032:2012 is currently listed, by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation, as 5^th May 2018, when the 2015 revised Edition, EN 55032:2015 is due to be implemented.
