Elan Digital enables PCMCIA interface for Intel Atom processors
Elan Digital Systems is launching its USBPC16 and USBPC32 chipsets to the market. The chipsets, which up till now were used as a proven solution in-house, now offer a simple and inexpensive product for designers using Intel’s new Atom Processors and needing to provide a legacy PCMCIA interface. Unlike other products on the market, these devices are not restricted to memory cards only.
The Both USBPC16 and USBPC32 are designed to interface to the host processor via a standard USB2.0 port. Whilst the USBPC16 provides a 16 bit PCMCIA interface, the USBPC32 supports CardBus 32 bit applications.
As a future development Elan Digital plans to provide a single device for both 16 & 32 bit depending upon market demand.
