DuPont is highlighting its latest innovations for displays from June 5-7 during the 2012 Society for Information Display (SID) International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology for large format displays and lighting, DuPont Vertak optical bonding adhesives for enhanced display durability, and new DuPont Teijin Films’ substrates for flexible displays and touch screens will be featured at the show. DuPont also will present on innovations in Flat Panel Display (FPD) Analysis with new measurement techniques as part of the technical conference.
“DuPont continues to assert its leadership in solution printing process technology and advanced OLED materials that provide display manufacturers a clear path to achieve a significantly lower OLED manufacturing cost position,” said John Richard, president, DuPont Displays. “Two new materials from DuPont Teijin Films are being introduced, and the latest Vertak® optical bonding technologies also will be featured. Our goal remains to improve display performance and enable cost-effective, next-generation breakthroughs across a broad range of technologies, and we’re excited about bringing that message to life for the display industry at SID this year.”

DuPont offers industry-leading advanced materials and cost effective process technology to optimize OLED’s stunning picture quality, high contrast and outstanding blacks for next generation large displays. DuPont recently announced that it has signed a technology licensing agreement with a leading Asian manufacturer of OLED display products that would enable process technology developed by DuPont to be used in the company’s production of large OLED television displays at significantly lower cost than alternative technologies.

DuPont Teijin Films offers the widest variety and best performing polyester (PET) and polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) films for display applications, and is introducing two new materials at SID. Melinex® RFL, a highly reflective polyester film used as a reflector in LCD backlight units and other applications features high reflectivity, excellent whiteness and high area yield. New Melinex® index matching film also is being launched as a super clear PET film that reduces iridescence (or rainbows) in hard coats. It mitigates the effect of hard coat variation on visual appearance. By using optical modeling, DuPont Teijin Films can design the stack to minimize fringing, which is an indication of rainbow effect.

DuPont Display Enhancements has unmatched experience in providing a wide range of Vertak® optical bonding materials, process solutions and services, and offers high-yield and flexible optical bonding capabilities for more rugged, longer life displays.

In addition to participating in the exhibition at SID, DuPont will deliver a key technical presentation. Andrew Johnson will focus on Innovations in FPD Analysis on Tuesday, June 5 at 10:50 a.m. in session six, room 205C. Both lifetime and image sticking measurement techniques are well established but are somewhat uncharacteristic of actual TV usage. The purpose of his presentation is to quantify TV usage under various media categories and propose modifications to the standard experimental techniques to better represent the usage demands from TV media.
