National Instruments UK & Ireland has announced that Don Braggins, Director of the UK Industrial Vision Association and Executive Committee Member of the European Machine Vision Association will present the Keynote at the NI Automation and Vision Forum in Newbury, Berkshire on Thursday 4th December 2008.
Entitled “Machine Vision Takes Its Place in the Automation Engineer’s Toolbox”, Braggins’ Keynote examines the evolution of industrial machine vision. Credited with introducing the term “smart camera”, Braggins will discuss this trend and the productivity gains it brings to the automation engineer.

The NI Automation and Vision Forum is a free of charge conference for engineers and scientists, providing hands- on sessions and technical presentations from market leaders including ALRAD, FIRSTSIGHT VISION and National Instruments.

Attendees will learn how to optimise automation and vision applications with programmable automation controllers (PACs), harnessing their measurement, analysis, connectivity and advanced control features to:
· Improve yields and quality
· Enhance throughput and efficiency
· Improve equipment uptime and availability

National Instruments will also discuss how graphical system design allows a broader range of engineers to tackle difficult control and automation problems, reducing cost and improving performance. Two tracks of sessions will cover machine vision, industrial control and automation, and there will also be a hands-on track.
