Cypress Offers CapSense and TrueTouch Controllers In Industry's Smallest Packages
Cypress Semiconductor announced that both its CapSense capacitive touch controllers and TrueTouch touchscreen controllers are now available in tiny Wafer-Level Chip-Scale Packages (WLCSPs). These ultra-small packages enable manufacturers of personal media players, mobile handsets, PC peripherals (printers & mice), and other consumer electronic products to offer end products that are smaller and more attractive to consumers.
The The TrueTouch CY8CTMA300E controller family is offered in a 49-ball, 3.2 x 3.2 x 0.55 mm package. It offers an integrated analog sensing engine for the industry’s fastest and most accurate touchscreen user experience. This responsiveness allows tracking of multiple fingers simultaneously with precise x-y locations and without user delays or problems with erroneous “ghost” responses. The devices also offer Cypress’s legendary noise immunity, very low power consumption and advanced features such as stylus support, hover detection and water rejection.
“As we have done since the beginning of the touch revolution, Cypress is taking the lead in enabling differentiated end-products — in this case small form-factor systems that are in high demand by today’s consumer,” said Norm Taffe, executive vice president of Cypress’s Consumer and Computation Division. “With each new innovation, we’re extending our leadership in touch sensing, and we anticipate that trend to continue in the future.”
