Cypress and BG Partners Announce Winners of Fourth Annual Profesor E.I. Tochitsky Fellowship Award
Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY) and BG Partners today announced that teams from Moscow State University (Physics Department, Precision Sensors Labs) and from Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (Electronics and EE Department) are the winners of the fourth annual Professor E.I. Tochitsky Fellowship Award.
The “We’re very happy with the large scale PSoC deployment in Russia under the leadership of Professor Alexander P.Ryjov, Managing Director of BG Partners,” said Patrick Kane, director of the Cypress University Alliance. “For example, Professor Kharitonov's group from Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics has developed a series of original PSoC labs, and integrated Cypress's hardware kits and software tools into their curriculum. This is a great example of how Cypress’s University Program is expanding globally as PSoC continues to grow worldwide.”
BG Partners Group, Cypress University Alliance, and Professor E.I. Tochitsky’s family established the fellowship in 2007 to recognize and support outstanding student-professor entrepreneurial efforts. Founded in memory of Professor Eduard Ivanovich Tochitsky (1935-2007), a business and technology leader, the fellowship is open to talent from Belarus, the Middle East, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Norway, and Singapore.
“Several of our companies use PSoC as a critical part of their product’s development,” said Dr. Victor V. Boksha, CEO & Managing Director of BG Partners. “Russia is strategically important for BG Partners as it is intensely focused on modernizing quickly, which would be impossible without the development of new digital hardware. The flexible, digital PSoC platform with analog interfaces will significantly accelerate the upgrade of our legacy systems at minimal cost. We see that now is the time to accelerate building Russian technology brands for international markets to leverage the creativity and innovation capabilities Russian people are famous for.”
SVTC Technologies also joined the fellowship in support and recognition of the innovative talent within the university technology programs. SVTC CEO Bert Bruggeman said, “A lot of opportunity exists for the continued evolution of exciting new technologies and products from Russia. We are excited to work with partners in a variety of regions within Russia and to have the opportunity to help globalize a business model that makes new technology commercialization an effective, affordable and successful venture”.
