The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has launched a fast-bowling coaching app to help train a generation of sporting superstars. The app, developed by low-code tech platform OutSystems, is designed to support cricket-lovers at 6,000 local clubs across the country. It will bring key player fast-bowling sensor data, video, coach observations, and training plans together in one place.

The fast-bowling coaching app will be used specifically to support players who visit England Cricket’s Performance Centre in Loughborough where attendees are given expert insights into their performance and areas for improvement.

The app will ensure that top players don’t lose touch with the expert sports scientists, coaches and insight data their training has generated, helping them reach their full potential.

Andrew Korczynski, App Developer at OutSystems, said: “With cricket fever gripping the nation, this app will help a new generation of sporting heroes improve their bowling skills using the latest digital capabilities. From training plans to performance data, everything the future stars of tomorrow need to improve their performance is available right now at the touch of a button.”

The coaching app also ensures players and coaches stay connected to performance centre data and input between their visits, enabling continuous player improvement and development, and tight collaboration between everyone involved in their coaching and training at all levels.

Using the OutSystems platform, the ECB can now develop game-changing apps in a fraction of the time it took previously.

The ECB’s innovative fast-bowling app was fully developed in just two months with the help of accomplished OutSystems partner Sports Data Services–a project that previously would have taken over a year. It’s now the key system for player coaching and development, enabling total collaboration between players and coaches.
