British tech firm experiences increased demand in Asia
Home audio specialist, Chord Electronics, hand-builds its critically acclaimed consumer audio products from a converted Victorian pump house on the River Medway. The company has has seen a surge in demand in Asia for its consumer audio technology. Chord Electronics owns a number of proprietary technologies for audio and its product line includes Hi-Fi amplifiers, digital music streamers and digital headphone amps for smartphones.
Chord’s exclusively British-designed and manufactured products are increasingly exported overseas, including to those parts of the world traditionally associated with consumer electronics manufacturing dominance.
Demand in Asia for the company’s expertise and hand-made products (especially from China), led to a significant Chinese delegation visiting Chord Electronics’ facility in the tiny village of East Farleigh, just outside Maidstone, on the 30th May. The 20 strong group, comprising distributors, retailers and guests, visited Chord’s Kent headquarters (The Pump House) and the company’s circuit board manufacturing partner facility in neighbouring Essex.
In the evening, the delegation retreated for presentations, a banquet dinner and overnight stay at the regal Leeds Castle, Kent, once home to Henry VIII.
Chord Electronics’ Founder, Owner and Chief Designer John Franks (pictured centre) said: “We are truly proud to show our Chinese friends our advanced audio technologies and the wonderful build quality of our products, hand-crafted right here in the heart of Kent."
