ESCO report for UK electronic systems industry and government at NMI Summit
The UK electronic systems trade association, NMI, is set to update the electronic systems community on the key findings to date of the ESCO report at its annual Summit. The report will show how the successful industry can overcome barriers to future growth and will advise on ways that policy can be adapted to further promote, grow and support itself and a number of vertical sectors that also depend on it.
BecaThe free-to-attend NMI Summit is being held in central London on the 15th November at 2pm and takes place at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel.
Key elements from the ESCO report will include the UK’s current innovation climate, its R&D capabilities and its skills pipeline.
“The world is ever-more dependent on solutions provided by electronic systems and the UK is renowned for its innovation that provides the next generation technologies and applications vital to not only to the economy but society in general,” said Derek Boyd, NMI’s CEO. “We live in a highly competitive, ever-changing world and our industry must work hard to stay ahead, so it’s vital that we all work together to create an environment that is conducive to innovation and excellence that helps our companies succeed.”
The ESCO report is being produced via a collaboration between many of the UK’s leading firms, industry bodies and universities. ESCO is chaired by venture capitalist and ARM founder Jamie Urquhart. Its board and management team include the University of Glasgow; governmental department BIS; industry leaders ARM, Imagination Technologies and Plastic Logic; trade and skills organisations IET, NMI, Semta and UKEA.
The NMI Summit will be followed by the annual NMI awards and celebration dinner. This begins with a champagne reception at 6:30 and is hosted by the BBC’s Bill Turnbull.
