Basestation Conference Tackles Femtocells, LTE Business Models, Mobile TV Standards, All-IP Networks and WiMAX Realities
Prominent speakers from leading operators Vodafone, Orange, 02, Hutchison, BT (British Telecom), T-Mobile will share a platform with Industry Analysts from Deloitte, Yankee Group, ABI Research, Strategy Analytics, Arete and major network vendors Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Siemens at the annual Basestation Conference in Bath, UK, 24th-27th April, 2007.
KeynOne of the hot topics to be debated is the deployment of home basestations / femtocells. Analysts ABI Research predicts the market for home basestations will exceed 32 million by 2011 and a battle between dual mode (cellular & WiFi) and the pure cellular play is raging. (A separate conference dedicated to home access points and femtocells is being arranged by Avren Events in London, UK, 3rd-5th July, 2007).
“Whilst there are many conferences (on wireless networks), the International Basestation Conference is exceptional both for its clear focus and the high-quality of attendees,” commented Rupert Baines, VP of Marketing at picoChip, who will be addressing the hot topic of femtocell deployment on the opening day of the conference.
Each day of the conference brings together a mix of Operator, Network Vendor, Analyst and Subsystem/Chip Providers to provide delegates with the latest updates on Mesh Networks, Femtocells, Mobile TV, Mobile WiMAX, VoIP, HSDPA, Fixed/Mobile Convergence to name a few.
Alan Gatherer, CTO of Texas Instruments and a speaker at this year’s event stated, “The quality presentations and strong attendance by the wireless infrastructure community has made the Basestation Conference a great networking opportunity.”
