Imagination Technologies (IMG.L) is partnering with Testin to create the Imagination Application Testin Centre (IATC). The IATC will enable developers targeting the Greater China market to speed time-to-market for apps and games running on the wide range of mobile and wearable devices using Imagination’s IP including PowerVR GPUs and MIPS CPUs. It also allows Imagination licensees and their OEM customers to ensure stability, smooth operation and compatibility of their platforms.

Through the IATC website, developers will be able to upload their applications and games and run them through automated tests for compatibility, functionality, stability, UI and performance, ensuring compatibility with their target Imagination based devices in the shortest possible time. Licensees and OEMs will be able to add their devices and platforms on an ongoing basis to add to the breadth of devices that developers can test against.

For each application tested, reports including screenshots, logs and performance statistics, along with specific CPU and GPU analyses and solution recommendations will enable developers to identify and mitigate any bottlenecks. The IATC will also provide additional materials, including news, whitepapers and tutorials for the PowerVR SDK and tools such as PVRTrace, PVRTune and others, that will enable developers to further profile, debug and optimise their applications.

Jun Wang, CEO, Testin, said: “With the large number of Android and iOS devices on the market, app testing is a time consuming and often expensive task. Our cross-platform cloud-based testing platform enables developers to quickly and cost effectively test their apps and games in real time on hundreds of handsets and tablets. By partnering with Imagination, whose IP is inside many mobile, wearable and other consumer devices, we can further our vision of helping developers worldwide to confidently enter the fast-growing but highly fragmented Chinese application market.”

Tony King Smith, EVP marketing, Imagination, says: “Increasing and enhancing our offerings for the vibrant Imagination developer community in Greater China is a key focus for Imagination and the IATC will be a significant addition to our programmes. Testin’s cloud platform offers a proven and valuable service that can help developers get to market quickly with apps and games for devices incorporating PowerVR GPUs and MIPS CPUs.”
