App launches Text Stickers feature in first ‘Instagram stories’ style
An innovative new text stickers feature is enabling users of the TouchNote app to create physical Instagram style stories on traditional cards and postcards. Users of theapp can now add fun, customised and expressive twists to the cards they create. And they obviously don’t disappear in 24 hours like the artwork people spend so long creating on Instagram.
The ‘real-world’ artwork is proving a big hit with existing TouchNote customers and is attracting new users to the platform who like the idea of preserving their creative efforts.
The first of its kind stickers feature is now live on the TouchNote app for members on iOS devices and will be available for Android users from early December.
TouchNote is a creative platform for personal communication reinvented for the digital era, which enables users to send custom-made cards using their own photos combined with stickers, stock images and illustrations.
TouchNote’s Creative Director, Jesse Boyce said: “People put a lot of effort into their Instagram Stories, taking time to write, design, size, colour, position and angle text over their photos and videos – only for them to disappear 24 hours later. We came up with a way for our members to customise the look of a sticker on their personalised card by changing the text and background colour, background opacity, font and text alignment. They can move the sticker to anywhere on their card, changing its position, angle and size. They can also add emojis.
“As far as we are aware, this is the first 'Instagram stories' style functionality that is designed for physical output, bringing social engagement into the real world. So now all that effort you put into your Instagram stories can last years rather than days, and you can send them directly to someone you care about to treasure on their fridge or mantlepiece. Memories are kept and cherished rather than just being swiped past and forgotten about.”
How does it work?
- The text stickers feature can be accessed via a new button when creating a postcard or greeting card
- This button is ‘padlocked’ to show that it is for members only
- You can drag to make the sticker bigger or smaller, rotate it and put it anywhere on the front of your card
- You can change your text font & choose from one of 10 colours
- There are seven standard fonts, as well as one exclusively added for iOS devices called ‘Marker Felt’
- You can select from a choice of 10 backgrounds for your text using a range of colours or picture backgrounds
- There are 10 standard background colours and three standard picture backgrounds available (fireworks, confetti and polka dots)
- You can also change the opacity of the background to be 100, 75 or 50% opaque
- You can change the text alignment (i.e. left, centered or right alignment)
- For the festive season, TouchNote has developed special backgrounds for text stickers on Christmas cards, along with three Christmas backgrounds and three extra Christmas colours.
