Altera announced its Stratix IV GT FPGA received TechAmerica Foundation's American Technology Award in the electronic components category. TechAmerica recognized Altera for demonstrating excellence in technology with its Stratix IV GT FPGA, which was designed specifically to meet the performance and system bandwidth requirements of today's high-bandwidth systems.
Altera received the award at TechAmerica's Eighth Annual Technology and Government Dinner which was held in Washington, D.C. on June 16. The event included hundreds of industry, congressional and government leaders celebrating the partnership between industry and government. Winners of the American Technology Awards represent the best of the technology industry as vetted by industry experts and technology peers.

Altera's Stratix IV GT FPGAs are optimized specifically for the latest generation of 40G and 100G applications used in communications systems, high-end test equipment and military communications systems. The FPGAs feature a combination of high-speed 11.3-Gbps transceivers to support high-throughput system requirements, as well as core performance and logic density to handle the complex processing needed to manage 40G/100G networks.

TechAmerica is the leading voice for the U.S. technology industry, which is the driving force behind productivity growth and job creation in the U.S. and the foundation of the global innovation economy. Representing approximately 1,200 member companies of all sizes from the public and commercial sectors of the economy, it is the industry's largest advocacy organization and is dedicated to helping members' top and bottom lines.

“It is an honor that the TechAmerica Foundation presented us with such a prestigious award in front of many of the very companies that leverage our programmable solutions,” said Vince Hu, vice president of product and corporate marketing at Altera. “The growing number of people accessing data over the Internet and the proliferation of mobile converged devices is putting a tremendous strain on today's communication's infrastructure. Stratix IV GT FPGAs play a critical role in the development of the industry's next-generation, high-bandwidth 40G and 100G systems.”
