National Instruments UK & Ireland today announced that Kevin Snelling and Martin Saxon, both Directors of Product Technology Partners Ltd, a National Instruments Alliance Partner, have achieved LabWindows/CVI Certification status. Kevin and Martin are the second and third engineers in the UK & Ireland that have attained this qualification.
640nm laser diodes combine high visibility with low operating
Photonic Products has introduced two new red laser diodes from Opnext Inc. which combine a low operating current with a high optical output power. The HL6362MG/HL6363MG laser diodes (640nm wavelength band, 45mW maximum optical output power) are ideal for use in medical scanners, measurement equipment and next-generation display applications.

Avago Technologies has announced what is said to be the industry's smallest reflective incremental optical encoder. It is offered in a surface-mount package with dimensions of 3.00 mm length by 3.28 mm width by 1.262 mm height. The Avago AEDR-8400 encoder combines extremely small size with 254 lines per inch resolution, low power consumption and wide operating temperature range.
Toshiba's SoC digital video broadcast MPEG decoding solution? That'll be the Daewoo!
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced that Daewoo Electronics will use its system-on-chip digital video broadcast MPEG decoding solution in the company’s first dual stream personal video recorder (PVR). Due to launch in the UK in August and the rest of Europe later in the year, the new Daewoo PVR will use the Toshiba SoC to deliver enhanced functionality that includes the facility for simultaneous output of video to two external devices.
