Low-cost compact industrial Ethernet switches
HARTING has introduced a range of low-cost industrial Ethernet switches which combine low-profile mounting with ease of installation in IP30 industrial environments. The new eCon2000 Series offer an unmanaged Ethernet switch configuration for use with 10 Mbit/s or 100 Mbit/s Ethernet networks conforming to the IEEE 802.3 standard, and feature automatic detection of the data-transmission rate.
One-Chip Electronic Ballast for Fluorescent Lamps
STMicroelectronics has introduced a single chip which integrates a Power Factor Corrector with a half-bridge controller and all the relevant drivers and logic for an electronic ballast IC for fluorescent lamps. Combining these functions on a single IC allows ST’s new L6585 to generate more light from less energy, while ensuring full compliance with safety and power consumption regulations.

AnalogicTech and Siliconix settle patent litigation
Advanced Analogic Technologies Incorporated (AnalogicTech) and Siliconix, a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH), have reached an amicable settlement of the patent infringement lawsuit brought by Siliconix in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit, filed in January 2004, related to alleged infringement of three U.S. patents pertaining to trench DMOS technology.
