After 25 Years, IC Insights closes its business on December 30, 2022

IC Insights believes that the synergy of TechInsights’ current offerings of reverse engineering and market analysis coupled with The McClean Report service creates a semiconductor industry information platform that is without equal.

IC Insights expects a smooth transition of The McClean Report to TechInsights given that Brian Matas and Rob Lineback, two of the three principal analysts that create the Report, will be continuing on with TechInsights, and will focus all of their efforts on The McClean Report service. Moreover, Bill McClean will be part of the transition by assisting with the market research that will be included in the January Flash Report.

In conjunction with my retirement and the acquisition of The McClean Report by TechInsights, IC Insights will be permanently closing on December 30, 2022. We appreciate you placing your trust in IC Insights’ market research reports and services over the past 25 years and want to sincerely thank you for your business and friendship.

After 42 years of tracking the semiconductor industry, I will officially make the transition into the next phase of my life. What a ride it has been! When I first entered the semiconductor industry in 1980 it was a $14.7 billion business and in 2022 it is expected to be $636 billion.

I feel very fortunate to have spent my entire professional career tracking and attempting to forecast what I believe is the most interesting and important business segment in the world (as I have stated many times in the past, the semiconductor industry is never boring). I am also extremely thankful that I have had such hard working and loyal colleagues that were essential to creating the massive volumes of the semiconductor industry market research information that we have released together over the years. This industry has always had some of the most brilliant and at the same time nicest people working within it and it has been my privilege and honour to have worked with you over the past 42 years. Tempus Fugit!
