Aerospace engineer Amy Anderson joins Altelium
Aerospace engineer and PHD student, Amy Anderson joinsbattery data insurtech company Altelium as Data Scientist. Whilst completing the final stage of her PHD, which is focused on modelling power energy patterns, Amy will focus on battery behaviour and predictive modelling as part of the team at Altelium.
Amy’s unique blend of academic and industry skills will be a huge asset to Altelium, particularly her experience within the space sector as an engineering consultant and as a power engineer working extensively with battery technology.
“During my time in the aerospace industry my primary focus was the design and development of power systems for space applications,” says Amy, “Working for a range of SME’s, I have supported the development of battery analytic capability from the ground up, creating predictive models and analytic solutions for very challenging operational environments.
“Due to the final end use of the product, the highest levels of assurance were required, and the work was often closely performed alongside national space agencies such as NASA, ESA and JAXA.”
Amy has strong capability in practical power systems and an expert understanding of lithium-ion technology from her time in battery development, management and testing to NASA standards for lithium-ion cells, alongside higher level battery assemblies. She also brings with her a greater depth of knowledge in data collection and analytics with extensive skills around electrical and predictive models for lithium ion to assess performance and degradation.
“The most exciting thing about this new role is working on something which will tangibly transform clean energy on the ground” says Amy. “I’m looking forward to working with lead Data Scientist Judith Elgie and the rest of team too. We know that the most important mission of our generation is to lower emissions. To play a meaningful and practical role in decarbonizing our future is a hugely motivating way to make use of my electrical engineering knowledge and expertise.
