Motion control evaluation platform speeds development of BLDC motor applications
Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has launched an evaluation platform that will simplify and speed the development of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives used in applications ranging from home appliances and pumps to industrial automation and automotive motion control.
Next-generation Hall-effect current sensor from Allegro combines high speed and low noise for 50-100 A current measurements
Allegro MicroSystems Europe has introduced a new high-speed, low-noise Hall-effect current sensor which offers 3 kV RMS voltage isolation and a low-resistance current conductor for 50-100 A current measurements. The ACS756 is a next-generation open-loop current sensor with a 125 kHz bandwidth capability, and takes advantage of Allegro's low-loss leadframe technology and the fast response capability of the monolithic Hall-effect sensor IC.
Automotive battery monitoring transducers from LEM said to offer improved resolution and offset errors
LEM has introduced the HAB xx-S family of current transducers for automotive battery-monitoring applications. These transducers have been designed to measure DC, AC, or pulsed currents up to ±100A. A new Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) incorporated into the units offers resolution 2.5 times better than previous models and a two-fold improvement in offset error, coupled with a significant reduction in price.
Managed Ethernet switch range offers flexible communication options
mCon 1000 from HARTING is a new range of managed Ethernet switches that offers a flexible range of communications options for industrial network applications.
Expanded range of cross-guide couplers for monitoring microwave power
Link Microtek’s Engineering Division has expanded its AMX range of waveguide cross-guide couplers, which are designed for monitoring microwave power in space-restricted systems. Available in 16 different rectangular waveguide sizes covering frequencies from 1 to 40GHz, these compact couplers are suitable for use in applications ranging from commercial satellite communication systems to military radar.

Express Logic Joins Eclipse Foundation
Express Logic, Inc. has announced that it has joined the Eclipse Foundation, an open-source community, whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle. The Eclipse Foundation is a not-for-profit, member-supported corporation that hosts the Eclipse projects and helps cultivate both an open-source community a...
Contrinex sets new benchmark for background suppression sensors
Diffuse background suppression (BGS) photoelectric sensors are used in applications where accurate differentiation between the target and potentially interfering backgrounds is essential. As with all such set-ups, when using this technique it is vital that only the target is sensed, regardless of the colour, surface and shape of the background and target.
TI extends Puma 5 family with set-top-box and video gateway front end solution
Texas Instruments (TI) has announced a new DOCSIS 3.0 (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) product that supports cable set-top-boxes (STB) with both MPEG-TS (transport stream) and Internet Protocol (IP) capabilities. This latest addition to the Puma 5 family provides equipment manufacturers with the ability to create a new breed of hybrid STB products. STBs with TI’s Puma 5 solution enable cable operators to extend their curren...
