The Silicon Labs xG22E family of SoCs, now available from authorised distributor DigiKey, consists of the BG22E, MG22E, and FG22E.

These energy-efficient SoCs will enable IoT device makers to build high-performance, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), 802.15.4-based, or proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless devices for battery-optimized and battery-free devices that can harvest energy from external sources like indoor or outdoor ambient light, ambient radio waves, and kinetic motion.

The energy-conserving BG22E enhances battery longevity and supports designs that eliminate the need for batteries altogether. The EFR32BG22E wireless SoCs are designed with a strong focus on energy efficiency, offering ultra-low transmit and receive power.

A high-performance, low-power Arm Cortex-M33 core delivers industry-leading energy efficiency that can extend coin cell battery life up to ten years. BG22E SoC's are the ideal market-leading ICs for ambient IoT or energy-harvesting devices.

The EFR32MG22E offers an optimized Zigbee SoC incorporating a high-performance, low-power 76.8 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core with TrustZone. The energy conservation MG22E enhances battery longevity and designs that eliminate the need for batteries.

The MG22E ICs offer a combination of ultra-low transmit and receive power, deep-sleep mode power, and low-power peripherals, delivering an energy-efficient solution for applications using the Zigbee protocol including green power.

Silicon Labs' wireless Gecko series 2 platform includes EFR32FG22E proprietary wireless 2.4 GHz SoCs. FG22E SoCs include a 38.4 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core with TrustZone and a high-performance radio with a receive sensitivity of -102.3 dBm. The energy conservation FG22E enhances battery longevity and designs that eliminate the need for batteries.

These SoCs offer a combination of ultra-low transmit and receive power, deep-sleep mode power, and innovative low-power features such as RFSense delivering industry-leading energy efficiency to extend the operational life of products with limited battery or energy harvesting options.

The devices deliver Up to 512 kB of Flash and 32 kB of RAM, and offer an ultra-fast, low-energy cold start, and low-energy deep sleep wake-up.

Evaluation boards are available in the xG22E-EK2710A explorer kit and the EFR32xG22E radio board. The xG22E-EK2710A is a small form factor development and evaluation platform based on the EFR32MG22E system-on-chip.

The EFR32xG22E explorer kit is focused on rapid prototyping and concept creation of IoT applications for 2.4 GHz wireless protocols including BLE, Bluetooth mesh, Zigbee, and Proprietary.

The EFR32xG22E radio board is designed to work with the wireless pro kit mainboard (not included) to support the development of wireless IoT devices based on 2.4 GHz wireless protocols including BLE, Bluetooth Mesh, and Zigbee.

Applications cover asset tracking, Bluetooth angle of arrival (AoA), Bluetooth angle of departure (AoD), factory automation, fitness devices, personal healthcare, predictive maintenance, sensors, smart agriculture, smart home switches, smart locks and smart metering.
