Application tools based on RL78 MCUs get update
IAR Systems has announced a version of IAR Embedded Workbench for RL78, the renowned C/C++ compiler and debugger toolchain for Renesas RL78 Family of microcontrollers (MCUs). Version 3.10 adds new debugging capabilities and an updated integrated development environment (IDE) with enhancements to window management and docking, customisable toolbars, and new tutorials. All these new additions improve workflows and accelerate development for users of the toolchain.
IAR Embedded Workbench for RL78 provides a complete IDE including the IAR C/C++ Compiler, an assembler, a linker and the C-SPY Debugger. The debugging capabilities of the C-SPY Debugger are renowned in the embedded industry for high performance, reliability and efficiency.
The new version of IAR Embedded Workbench for RL78 adds several new features to make debugging even more efficient, including new filtering functionality, drag-and-drop from the source code windows, detailed register tool-tip information, and improved handling of user-defined registers groups.
It also adds support for the advanced on-chip debugging E2 emulator from Renesas. In addition, developers working with RL78 MCUs with built-in analog front-end for sensor applications can now take advantage of Smart Analog support in IAR Embedded Workbench.
IAR Systems delivers powerful development tools for Renesas MCUs, including tools for R-IN32, RZ, EC-1, RX, RL78, RH850, 78K, SuperH, R8C, V850, R32C and M32C, H8 and M16C.
IAR Embedded Workbench for RL78 is available in several editions, including a Functional Safety version with safety-certification from TÜV SÜD according to the requirements of IEC 61508, the international umbrella standard for functional safety, as well as ISO 26262, which is used for automotive safety-related systems.
