Extremely reliable: the new Swissbit C-400 series CompactFlash card
The new C-400 series CompactFlash card from Swissbit offers the highest possible level of reliability that is currently available for non-volatile memory. This is achieved through well designed wear leveling, read disturb management and the BCH-ECC (Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem-Codes) unit, which can correct up to 24 bits per 1024 bytes using a tried-and-tested procedure.
The SLC (Single Level Cell) flash storage cells, which have been evaluated and tested at an extremely high level, and specially optimized algorithms for flash handling also help to ensure the extremely high level of reliability provided by the new C-400 series. Thanks to S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) protocols and Life Time Monitoring, users are always aware of the actual condition of the CompactFlash(TM) cards, which means sudden and unexpected failures can be avoided. If requested by the customer, Swissbit can also add additional command sets to these monitoring mechanisms in order to provide even more transparency.
The Low Power C-400 CompactFlash(TM) cards have a maximum power consumption of 0.6W. They include UDMA6 (Ultra-Direct Memory Access), which provides data transfer rates of up 65 MB/s, and are compatible with the CF Specification Rev. 5.0, 4.1 & 3.0.
The C-400 series, which has been designed for temperature ranges of -40°C to 85°C and 0°C to 70°C, should be available from April with storage densities of between 2 and 64GB. Smaller densities will be available at a later date. In accordance with the Swissbit philosophy, long-term availability with a fixed BOM (Bill of Materials) as well as shock and vibration resistance are guaranteed. What’s more, Swissbit Design-In is available to provide support with its own inhouse system and storage specialists.
