Imagination Technologies has announced that it has teamed with Mymo Wireless and SaberTek to provide a complete end-to-end licensable silicon IP for LTE CAT1/0.The offering provides joint customers a low-risk, cost-effective solution that is optimised for low data rate applications such as asset tracking, fleet management, security and surveillance, point of sale, health monitoring, smart metering, and a growing number of other IoT applications.

Companies developing connected IoT devices can achieve cost, power and time-to-market benefits by integrating LTE connectivity onto the main SoC through the customisable IP solution from Imagination, Mymo and SaberTek. The solution combines Imagination’s low-power Ensigma Series5 Radio Processing Unit (RPU) for LTE baseband, SaberTek’s SBR7040 ultra-low-power LTE transceiver and Mymo’s CAT1/0 LTE UE protocol stack and software which has passed interoperability and certification tests of a tier-1 US cellular carrier lab. The combined IP solution is already implemented in silicon by a leading provider of SoCs for the connected home and IoT.

Chakra Parvathaneni, President, Imagination Americas and Ensigma Business Operations at Imagination says: “Our partnership with Mymo and SaberTek enables customers to get to silicon quickly with a proven end-to-end solution. Our flexible Ensigma Series5 RPUs support multiple connectivity standards, and are gaining increased traction especially in areas where standards are continuously evolving, such as in the field of IoT. We believe there is a great opportunity for Ensigma in supporting LTE CAT1/0 for IoT applications.”

Says Sondur Lakshmipathi, Director and CEO, Mymo Wireless: “Our silicon-proven, operator-certified technology enables customers to rapidly build LTE CAT1/0 functionality into dedicated or integrated SoCs for IoT. Imagination’s Ensigma baseband provides an easily programmable and power-efficient hardware platform which is also ideally suited for IoT applications. We look forward to working with Imagination and SaberTek on further joint customer engagements.”

Says Farbod Behbahani, President and CEO, Sabertek: “SaberTek is focused on enabling the wireless IoT market by providing all of the low-power, low-cost wireless IoT transceiver IPs including LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GNSS, and others. Our widely used transceiver IP for LTE applications includes ultra-low power RF with specialised low-power modes for IoT, with which Imagination’s RPU and Mymo’s baseband software are easily and seamlessly integrated. We look forward to expanding our joint customer base with Mymo Wireless and Imagination.”
