Long Range Multi-Channel Transceiver from Radiometrix
Radiometrix has announced the availability of the BHX2 multi-channel 25kHz narrowband transceiver solution with a 500mW (+27dBm) RF output, boasting a range of up to 5km. Standard operating frequency is the 458.5-459.1MHz UK band. Applications include industrial & commercial telemetry/ telecommand systems, high-end security systems
The With a supply voltage range of 5.5-15V, the BHX2 draws a current of 350mA for transmitting, and 30mA for receiving. It is particularly suited to low power applications, and offers a means of circumventing the operating range inadequacies of existing multi-channel narrowband devices.
Fitting into a 85x39x13mm package (with the same user interface as the company’s TR2M modules), it offers a total of 128 channels (channel spacing 25kHz), configurable via the RS232 interface. An automatic noise squelching function is activated when there is not any RF signal at detectable levels or if the non-coherent noise is high enough to block out weak signals.
The module delivers data rates of 5kbit/s. It conforms to both EN 300 220-3 and EN 301 489-3 standards. It incorporates a 1200baud half-duplex modem which is compatible with that implemented in other Radiometrix devices, allowing easier upgrade.
Target applications for this transceiver include industrial handheld terminals, heavy vehicle/machine remote controls, industrial & commercial telemetry/telecommand systems, high-end security systems, long range data buoy, and vehicle data up/download.
