Huawei, Frequentis and Funkwerk Successfully Complete GSM-R E2E Test
Frequentis and Funkwerk, two leading next-generation communications terminal providers, and Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, have successfully completed a GSM-R end-to-end (E2E) Interoperability Test. GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway) is an international wireless communications standard for railway communications and applications. This test has demonstrated that the three parties' systems are perfectly compatible and conform to EIRENE (European Integrated Railway Radio Enhanced Network) specifications.
The The success of this Interoperability test demonstrates that Huawei' s E2E GSM-R system is able to provide fully customized features such as 1800MHz frequency radio system, Intelligent Network (IN) interface and Short Message Service, said Mr. Xu Zhiyu, Vice President of GSM-R Product line, Huawei. To date, Huawei has more than 5,000km of contracted GSM-R lines and railway customers across three continents. The company completed the world's first GSM-R tests at high-speeds of 430 km/h on the Shanghai Maglev Railway in 2006. Huawei has subsequently become one of a few end-to-end GSM-R solution suppliers in the world, with its GSM-R solution being fully compliant with the latest EIRENE specifications.
