Flexible Multi-Mode Wireless Data Modem from CML
CML Microcircuits has announced the launch of the CMX7143 with FFSK/MSK modem functionality.
The CMX7143 is a flexible wireless modem product, designed to address the growing global market requirements for multi-mode wireless data connectivity, particularly sought-after by Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Software Defined Radio (SDR) product manufacturers. The product also targets Point-to-Point telemetry systems, traffic location systems and any other wireless data modem applications that require easily configurable multi-mode modem flexibility.
The CML's Function Image files configure the on-chip sub-systems of the CMX7143, and are uploaded during device initialisation - the product's function and feature set is then defined. A Function Image™ can be loaded automatically from an external EEPROM or host microcontroller over the product’s C-BUS serial interface, facilitating in-the-field upgrades if desired.
Offering a host of features including, fast data acquisition, 4.8kbps to 19.2kbps data rates, Automatic Frame Sync Detection (AFSD), flexible raw and packet data modes, soft decision decoding, RSSI processing for Listen Before Transmit (LBT) applications and a C-BUS serial interface to the host microcontroller - the CMX7143 provides everything that is needed in a wireless multi-mode data modem. Additionally, auxiliary ADCs with multiplexed inputs, auxiliary DACs and auxiliary system clocks are provided to aid design and operational flexibility.
The CMX7143 is available in a small, low power (3.3V with flexible powersave modes), 48-pin VQFN or LQFP package, adding to the growing range of CML products design on FirmASIC technology. An evaluation kit is available (PE0401), facilitating quick and easy design-in.
