Wireless power reciever meets WPC 1.1 specification
Offering portable device manufacturers a high-efficiency solution, IDT have today announced the new IDTP9025 wireless power receiver. Meeting the Wireless Power Consortium’s 1.1 “Qi” specification, the IDTP9025 is optimized for high-volume portable consumer applications and offers a cost-effective wireless power solution for universal compatibility with the next-generation of Qi charging bases.
Offering improved foreign object detection, the IDTP9025 is a single-chip wireless power receiver IC which includes an onboard synchronous full-bridge rectifier and low-resistance LDO regulator. These features enable customers to achieve excellent power transfer efficiency with minimal external component count and board space. The IDTP9025 is capable of passing communication and power transfer information to a local microcontroller, as well as fault and safety monitors, through the integrated I2C port. This enables the building of custom control algorithms and user interfaces to enhance the user experience.
“Our latest WPC 1.1 wireless power receiver expands our leading wireless power portfolio to address high-volume portable consumer products,” said Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager of the Analog and Power Division at IDT. “The IDTP9025 enables our customers to develop compact, high-efficiency wireless power solutions compliant to the latest standards, ensuring universal compatibility with any Qi charging base. We also provide a WPC 1.1-certified reference design and layout guidelines with our evaluation kits, making it easy for our customers to obtain WPC certification for their products with minimal effort.”
The IDTP9025 is designed for use in high-volume portable devices where battery life and physical size are a primary concern, whilst the support which IDT offers includes a design-in guide and tools to ease the development process. Coming in a compact 3 x 2.5 mm WLCSP package and priced at $2.44 each for volumes of 1,000 units, the IDTP9025 is currently sampling to qualified customers.
