EnOcean has introduced its latest radio transceiver family, the TCM 600 and TCM 615, setting new standards in wireless technology with improvements in performance and energy efficiency.

These transceivers deliver enhanced computational power and memory capacity, all while reducing energy consumption, enabling the development of advanced products based on EnOcean technology.

Matthias Kassner, Vice President of Product Marketing at EnOcean GmbH, highlighted the impact of these new devices: “This latest wireless device family further extends the leadership of EnOcean products in creating a smart, connected, and sustainable world. With a significant performance boost, TCM 600 and TCM 615 enable differentiated applications based on the latest EnOcean technology.”

The TCM 600 and TCM 615 offer up to four times the computational power and eight times the memory capacity compared to their predecessors, the TCM 3xx and TCM 5xx series. This substantial increase in resources allows for more complex and feature-rich user applications.

The TCM 615 provides a compact and cost-effective solution for adding EnOcean radio communication to OEM designs. It is pin-to-pin compatible with the previous TCM 515, utilising the same ESP3 interface protocol, allowing users to upgrade seamlessly without the need for hardware or software modifications. This enables immediate access to enhanced functionality without significant redesign efforts.

For more space-constrained applications, the TCM 600 offers an ideal solution. This module integrates the latest EnOcean radio technology, making it perfect for ultra-compact applications such as relays and dimmers, where both performance and size are critical factors.

Kassner further emphasised the energy-saving benefits of the new transceiver family: “EnOcean continues to lead the way for a connected world that is both smart and sustainable. The increased performance enables new, feature-rich applications based on the latest security requirements while the reduced energy consumption further enhances the energy savings realised by EnOcean solutions.”

The new generation of transceivers reduces power consumption by up to 50%, significantly improving the energy efficiency of connected devices and reinforcing EnOcean’s commitment to sustainable solutions.

The TCM 600 and TCM 615 are designed according to the open EnOcean radio communication standards, ISO1453-3-10 and ISO14543-3-11, known for their high reliability and low power consumption. These standards, which rely on small, redundant messages, are ideal for energy harvesting and low-power applications, making EnOcean’s solutions some of the most sustainable on the market.

Kassner summarised the significance of the launch: “With its latest radio transceiver family, EnOcean is underlining its strong commitment to the EnOcean Alliance ecosystem. Both TCM 600 and TCM 615 significantly extend the performance and sustainability envelope and therefore represent an important milestone for sustainable, wireless connectivity. Thanks to their enhanced performance, focus on sustainability, and space efficiency, these modules are ideal for the implementation of a wide range of solutions that are both technologically advanced and environmentally conscious.”

Availability

Samples of the TCM 600 and TCM 615 are currently available for testing. Volume shipments for the TCM 615 are expected by the end of the year, with the TCM 600 set to follow in early 2025.
