RS-485 Transceivers from Intersil are Industry's first to Operate at 1.8V
Intersil have today announced the release of the industry’s first RS-485 transceivers that can operate from supply voltages as low as 1.8V, eliminating the need for a 3.3V or 5V power supply. Intersil’s ISL32600E, ISL32601E, ISL32602E and ISL32603E are micropower RS-485 transceivers designed for noise-immune data communication.
The The ISL32600E and ISL32601E operate with Vcc ≥ 2.7V, with a supply current of 80uA when both the transmitter and receiver are enabled.
The low voltage and low quiescent current requirements make the ISL3620x family ideal for applications such as flow meters or security systems, where the voltage and power must be minimal, especially if the application must be intrinsically safe. They can also be designed into process control networks, security camera networks, or building environmental control systems.
Receivers included on the ISL3260XE series feature symmetrical switching thresholds and increased hysteresis to improve noise immunity and reduced duty cycle distortion in the presence of slow moving input signals.
Features and Specifications:
• Low bus currents present less than a “1/8 unit load” to the bus. This allows more than 256 transmitters on the network
• Maximum data rates range from 128kbps to 460kbps at operating temperatures up to 125°C
• Hysteresis of 40mV provides excellent noise immunity
• Slew rate limited drivers reduce EMI
• Small footprint saves up to 50 percent board space in most applications
The ISL3260x series is available now in 8-, 10- and 14-lead MSOP and 8- and 14-lead SOIC packages, with prices starting at $1.26 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
