IoE solutions are being significantly adopted

Qualcomm Atheros offers a full suite of low power, feature-rich solutions that have connected more than 120m smart home devices in the past year, including consumer electronics, appliances and lighting systems. Qualcomm Atheros is making WiFi feasible for a multitude of new devices in the home and office; the platforms enable lower power to ensure better usage and simpler implementation with ease of configuration and interoperability. In addition, QCE’s Qualcomm AllPlay smart media platform, which is based on the AllJoyn open source projects, a software and services framework from the AllSeen Alliance, has a network of 18 manufacturers and 18 music streaming service providers who have integrated or have announced plans to integrate AllPlay for wireless whole-home audio.

QTI is helping its customers innovate in the wearable segment by providing a fully integrated platform including low power processing, compact chipset form factors, support for a range of sensors and a breadth of connectivity (3G/4G LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth). Customers already offer more than 20 wearable devices based on QTI’s solutions. These range from smart watches and fitness trackers to wearable cameras and digital eyewear and ship in more than 30 countries. Additionally, QTI has more than 20 new commercial designs currently in development, bringing new capabilities and user experiences to consumers.

Today, there are more than 20m connected vehicles deployed globally with QTI’s Qualcomm Snapdragon LTE and 3G modems, the most widely used wireless solutions for cloud-based entertainment, safety and security applications. The high speed, reliable connectivity provided by Snapdragon LTE modems is the cornerstone of next-gen, connected driver experiences, enabling navigation and infotainment services including real-time mapping, HD Video, multimedia streaming, gaming and more. Qualcomm’s automotive solutions also include the Snapdragon 602A automotive-grade infotainment processor, Qualcomm Atheros’ Qualcomm VIVE QCA65x4 to support WiFi, Bluetooth and Dedicated Short Range Communication, QTI’s Qualcomm WiPower wireless charging for consumer electronics in the car and Qualcomm Halo’s wireless charging for EVs.

To help meet the needs of rapidly growing urban populations, QTI is delivering solutions for smart buildings, energy, infrastructure, transportation and other emerging municipal applications. The company is involved in more than 20 active engagements to provide smart, sustainable connectivity that helps cities modernise while reducing operational costs in areas including municipal WiFi, water usage, recycling, lighting, transportation, energy and infrastructure. Cities around the world are implementing smart connectivity today, leveraging a full suite of QTI’s solutions, including 3G, 4G, WiFi, and small cells, as well making use of the AllJoyn open source project from the AllSeen Alliance in various industrial applications.

Qualcomm Life’s transformational 2net and HealthyCircles Platforms are providing the scalable infrastructure for a new generation of connected health solutions and reaching chronic disease patients who need chronic care management tools the most. The AllSeen Alliance, of which QCE was a founding member, is a cross-industry consortium dedicated to enabling and driving the widespread adoption of products, systems and services that support the IoE with an open, universal deployment framework. The Alliance now counts more than 140 companies among its members, including Electrolux, Haier, LG, Microsoft, Panasonic, Sony, LIFX and Honeywell. The Alliance is committed to growing IoE through the adoption of the AllJoyn open source framework that is platform, OS and hardware agnostic to enable seamless device discovery, connectivity and interoperability. Today there are 75 AllJoyn-enabled products, services, and applications that have been announced by Alliance members.
