Digi International today announced that Massa Products Corporation is using its XBee RF modules to enable wireless remote access to storage tank information. The module is integrated into Massa's M3 battery-operated wireless tank level sensor and features the necessary drivers for easy deployment into challenging environments. It allows the sensors to communicate with Digi's line of ConnectPort® X gateways, including cellular, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and satellite versions, for backhauling data to a customer's network.
To speed product development Massa integrates the sensors into iDigi™ Tank, a wireless M2M solutions bundle that includes the hosted software and services necessary to quickly and easily build applications for connecting and monitoring remote tanks of liquids, solids and gases. Massa Corporation is an iDigi Tank Monitoring Solution Partner which helps organizations adopt and deploy iDigi solutions.

“Digi allowed us to create a plug-and-play solution that is easy for our customers to deploy and use,” said Al de Chiara, sales manager of industrial products, Massa Products Corporation. “The sensors screw into the top of a storage tank and automatically commission themselves with a Digi gateway and the iDigi cloud. This allows customers to instantly connect to their remote storage tanks, and measure and monitor tank levels from anywhere in the world. It makes it so easy that it can practically be done by anyone. The iDigi solution allowed us to get to market quickly and focus on our core business of developing tank level monitoring sensors.”

“Massa is a leading manufacturer of storage tank monitoring sensors,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. “Our products and iDigi service help allow Massa's customers to easily access critical remote tank level information. Our iDigi Tank M2M solutions bundle can reduce the time it takes to connect customers' remote tanks from months to days.”

Digi's Drop-in Networking solutions include cellular, satellite and ZigBee®/802.15.4 wireless gateways, as well as adapters, modules, extenders, environmental sensors, and RF-based serial and Ethernet cable replacement products. These products can be used to connect or network-enable devices and sensors where no wired networking infrastructure exists, where access to an existing network is prohibited, or when laying cable is impractical or cost prohibitive. From 900 MHz in the U.S. to 2.4 GHz in Europe, Digi's flexible XBee module is available in various frequencies. Once an XBee is installed, customers can easily change frequency or technology within the XBee product line without redeveloping their product.
