Collaboration enhances the wearable experience
A strategic partnership has been formed between Valencell and Firstbeat to help realise the full potential of what biometric wearables can achieve. Valencell is a specialist in wearable and hearable biometric sensor technology, while Firstbeat provides physiological analytics for sports, fitness and well-being. The collaboration will ensure Valencell’s biometric sensor systems and Firstbeat physiological analytics work seamlessly together.
Today’s market demands more insightful user experiences that use science to go beyond basic heart rate measurement to provide personalised, actionable insights on exercise, stress, sleep and recovery, among other things. These insights require highly accurate biometric sensor data and advanced analytics like those provided by Valencell and Firstbeat.
“Firstbeat transforms heartbeat data into information people can actually use to live healthier, happier, more productive lives. This effort begins with the sensors that collect the biometric data that we interpret,” said Joni Kettunen, Ph.D., co-founder/CEO of Firstbeat. “Valencell clinically validated biometric sensors are among the best in the world, which makes this a golden opportunity to explore the potential of what these technologies have to offer people.”
Independently and together, Firstbeat and Valencell technologies are already integrated into a substantial number of consumer devices from industry manufactures. Last year, sound solutions provider Jabra brought Valencell sensors and Firstbeat physiological analytics together, as part of the true wireless headphones Jabra Elite Sport and the wireless Jabra Sport Pulse Special Edition heart monitoring sports headphones, both of which have received strong user reviews for these features.
“Successful biometric wearables require two things above all else - highly accurate biometric data in all conditions and advanced analytics to provide meaningful insights that help people achieve their goals,” said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, President and co-founder of Valencell. “Firstbeat’s analytics technology, when fuelled by accurate biometric data, is some of the best in the world. By combining Valencell’s highly accurate biometric sensor systems with Firstbeat’s analytics, OEMs can deliver mobile health and fitness applications that provide real value to the consumer.”
LeBoeuf will also participate in a panel discussion at the upcoming Firstbeat HRV Summit in Helsinki, Finland. The summit will take place on 20th-21st April and will gather top professionals from around the world who share a common interest in changing the way physiology is used to improve health, life quality and sports performance. The two-day programme will provide state-of-the-art keynotes, hands-on tests, demos and case studies for participants. The event will also be an opportunity for professionals to network and test the latest products and services based on HRV analysis.
Firstbeat HRV Summit will be used as a platform for both companies to further discuss their collaboration as well as answer any questions on their expertise.
