Battery authentication ICs for cell phones provide low-cost, highly-effective device security
Intersil has introduced advanced and flexible battery authentication ICs for cell phones, featuring the company’s FlexiHash technology. The ISL9206 and ISL9206A are cost-competitive battery authentication ICs that incorporate Intersil’s FlexiHash+ engine. It provides very high levels of security using a basic challenge/response scheme based on 32-bit challenge code and 8-bit response code.
2.7GHz, 60dB Mean-Squared RF Detector Responds in 500ns
A new wide dynamic range mean-squared RF detector from Linear Technology sets a new level of accuracy and speed performance. The LT5570 provides accurate RMS (Root-Mean-Squared) power measurement of a 40MHz to 2.7GHz AC signal over 60dB dynamic range, even with a modulation crest-factor of up to 12dB. It offers best-in-class measurement accuracy of ±0.5dB over its full dynamic range and over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. Moreover, the...
Staccato Delivers Certified Wireless USB Native Device Development Kit
Staccato Communications today announced the availability of the Ripcord1 Development Kit (DVK). Staccato’s Ripcord1 DVK is a completely integrated development environment that accelerates native Wireless USB device designs based on the Ripcord1 family of single-chip, all-CMOS Certified Wireless USB solutions.
UWB Internal Planar Antennas Offer High Gain and Low Profile
Focus EDL has announced an ultra-wide band (UWB) family of high-gain, low-profile, internal planar antennas for high-speed, short-range data communication equipment. Produced by Pulse, these UWB antennas are available in sizes that are optimized for applications currently using the UWB spectrum and create opportunities for new applications in the UWB spectrum.
RFID reader’s built-in personalities ease integration
Wireless and communications specialist TDC has added to its portfolio of RFID solutions, with the introduction of a module that is rich in features, yet simple to integrate. The SkyeModule M4 provides state-of-the-art security standards and a host of features normally found only in much higher-priced readers. Integration is simplified by the three alternative firmware personalities, which ready the module for distinct application requirements; in...
ZigBee single chip with integrated voice codec
APC-Hero, the specialist product management division of UK electronics distributor Advanced Power Components, has announced a new voice-enabled ZigBee single chip, the RadioPulse MG2450. This new wireless sensor has a range of industrial and commercial applications including lighting controls, heating and ventilation controls, wireless headset/earpiece, low-power door intercoms, intelligent remote controllers, etc. A SIM card module (Z-SIM) based...
TI linear regulator said to cut MSP430 standby power consumption in half
Texas Instruments has introduced 150-mA, low-dropout linear regulators (LDOs) with dual-level voltage output for MSP430 microcontroller-based, battery-powered devices. Consuming the lowest quiescent current in the industry at 500-nanoAmps, the LDO’s voltage select (VSET) pin gives designers the ability to switch between two voltage levels to customize and cut power consumption in half during operation.
IDT's Optimized CPRI Solution Addresses Rapidly Evolving Wireless Market
IDT has announced a new family of common public radio interface (CPRI )-based functional interconnect chip (FIC) solutions that bridge adjacent standards within the wireless infrastructure. These FIC solutions are the first such devices optimized to allow the common CPRI standard to span the interface between the wireless radio card and a Serial RapidIO-enabled base band processing system.
Narrow Band Multi-Channel Radio Module
Radiometrix has introduced a new addition to its widely applicable, low cost LMT2/LMR2 transmitter/receiver series. Making use of the 458.525-459.1MHz UK frequency band (instead of the 433.875-434.650MHz EU band utilised in the previous versions), these higher power radio modules manage to increase the distance over which they can communicate to as much as 1km. This allows engineers to enhance systems that previously had insufficient range (or in...
