Virscient showcases solutions at IFA Global Markets 2024
Virscient will be attending this year’s IFA Global Markets exhibition, which takes place at STATION Berlin from 8th - 10th September 2024 and runs in parallel with the main IFA consumer electronics show at Messe Berlin (6 - 10th September 2024).
Exhibiting at IFA booth 7F21 in Hall 7, the New Zealand-based company will showcase pioneering products, components and platforms that help manufacturers improve product design and bring innovative products to market faster.
Derryn Alexander, Marketing Lead at Virscient, says: “The Virscient ethos is to offer technological solutions that help manufacturers deliver better outcomes for their product development teams and end users. We are excited to be bringing some of these products to the attention of a wider audience by exhibiting at IFA Global Markets. We are especially looking forward to showcasing two of our newest licensable products, SoundTrack and LiveOnAir, along with a Virscient-developed solution for AirSuite , which demonstrates our expertise in wireless-connected product development.”
SoundTrack is a new software solution that allows audio device manufacturers to incorporate lost device tracking, via Apple’s Find My network, into their personal and portable audio products.
Every year, valuable headphones, earbuds and portable speakers are lost, causing irritation to their owners. Accessing Apple’s massive global network of over 800 million devices may hold the key to finding these again. By incorporating SoundTrack into portable devices and allowing customers to track their possessions via the Apple Find My app, manufacturers can offer peace of mind and potentially save customers from the cost of having to replace these items.
As an approved reference implementation for the Apple Find My network, SoundTrack licensable software makes it easy for audio OEMs and ODMs to add Apple Find My network support to their new (and in some cases, existing) headsets, headphones, earbuds, and other portable audio products without the need for any additional radios. SoundTrack includes full support for lost device discovery and tracking, seamless user pairing, over-the-air firmware updates, and unwanted tracking prevention.
At IFA Global Markets, Virscient will also be showing its LiveOnAir ultra-low latency digital wireless audio technology, which is designed to meet the needs of professional live performance and gaming systems.
LiveOnAir enables transport of mono, stereo, and multi-channel high-definition audio with analogue-to-analogue latency, configurable down to 3.5 milliseconds. The technology supports broadcast, multicast, and other flexible audio topologies, as well as integration with standards-based systems. Broadcast with LiveOnAir enables use cases across a range of domains, including live music, education, and house-of-worship.
Audio sample bitwidths up to 24-bit, and sample rates up to 96 kHz are provided by LiveOnAir, and with various narrow and wide-band RF transceiver options LiveOnAir can support short-range (up to 10 meters or 30 feet) or long-range (up to multiple kilometres/miles) applications in globally available unlicensed spectrum. The software also includes industry-standard security mechanisms based on the NIST-approved Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with Elliptic-Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH).
At IFA, Virscient will demonstrate its wireless microphone reference design which sees LiveOnAir deployed on the nRF5340 dual-core Bluetooth 5.4 SoC by Nordic Semiconductor. This licensable platform provides the fastest time-to-market for innovative OEMs seeking to deliver new products incorporating ultra-low latency digital wireless audio.
In addition to its licensed products, Virscient will demonstrate AirSuite IAQ monitoring, an indoor monitoring product that continuously measures the air quality and living conditions with a defined space.
Factors such carbon dioxide (CO₂), humidity, temperature, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter (including PM2.5 & PM10), lighting and acoustics can all affect the comfort and health of people working in an indoor environment. By detecting the presence of these harmful gases and particulates, AirSuite can make the invisible visible and provide organisations with the data they need to make their environments healthier for their staff.
AirSuite IAQ highlights Virscient’s expertise in full-service product development for wireless-connected products. By working closely with manufacturers, Virscient can take a product concept, define it, create concise technical documentation, and then execute development in line with that documentation. Innovation and creativity lie at the heart of Virscient’s ability to push forward boundaries of performance and help manufacturers deliver products that meet the demands and objectives of their customers.
