Universal Robots has announced the successful completion of its six-month cobot automation tour. The events have introduced the power of robotics and automation to a new generation of UK manufacturers, demonstrating the potential to address current challenges around labour shortages and production efficiency.

Mark Gray, UK Sales Manager at Universal Robots, explained: “Throughout the tour we’ve met with companies of all sizes from every manufacturing sector, and it has been interesting to see how the industry is looking to embrace change and implement new technologies to improve productivity,

“Our goal was to deliver the message that by using flexible automation on the factory floor it’s possible to plan ahead and meet any market challenges, which we feel we’ve succeeded in doing. The cobot automation tour has been a great initiative to be a part of.”

The cobots can be programmed to take over a multitude of tasks to benefit any automation need local manufacturers may be looking to solve. To prove anyone can become a robotics handler, those attending the event have had a chance to operate a real-life cobot themselves. Along with the very hands-on experience attendees have been able to get all of their automation questions answered by leading industry experts.

To highlight the wide range of tasks the cobots can be programmed to carry out, Universal Robots joined forces with several UR + partners, including Robotiq, SICK and SKFRobotics who exhibited their solutions at the events.

Vincent Vandomme, Channel Sales Manager at Robotiq, added: “It’s been an enriching experience throughout the past several months to meet with manufacturers and discuss what’s holding them back from automating and growing their business,

“Robotiq’s participation at Universal Robots’ Roadshow events has given the cobot world a platform to show how they can offer manufacturers an effective automation solution – helping with the labour gap we currently see in the UK.”
