InnovationLab shows printed electronics at MEDICA including Innovative sensors which look to improve patient care
InnovationLab, has announced that it will be attending MEDICA, the medical trade fair, in Düsseldorf from November 15th to 18th. InnovationLab will be showing its portfolio of printed and organic electronics at Hall 15, booth H16, with a focus on sensors in healthcare.
At MEDICA, visitors to InnovationLab’s booth will be able to see a number of demos, giving an insight into the advantages of flexible and thin electronics for the medical sector. This includes a smart mattress cover to prevent pressure sores, a smart carpet for various monitoring systems, and an example of its sensors in smart textiles, with a T-shirt with a sensor patch.
InnovationLab will also be demonstrating OccluSense, a product from Bausch that uses integrated flexible, printed pressure sensors from InnovationLab. OccluSense combines conventional and digital occlusion control, by digitally recording the pressure distribution during the biting process, using indiscernible sensors printed on thin foils.
Another use case is a smart drainage catheter, developed in co-operation with accensors, a business unit of InnoME GmbH. This monitors inflammation parameters near a wound during medical procedures, using flexible, printed foil sensors.
"Printed sensors can be processed on ultra-thin and flexible substrates, making them ideal for integration into medical packaging, products or devices,” said Luat Nguyen, Managing Director at InnovationLab. "They can be used in a huge range of healthcare applications, including tracking the amount of medication used, preventing bed sores with pressure sensors, and improving walking behavior in Parkinson’s patients with intelligent shoe soles."
