Miniature gearboxes are robust and maintenance free
Being compact while also being capable of transferring considerable levels of torque at high speed and efficiency is one quality of PowerGear Miniature’s bevel gearboxes. The gearboxes are robust and designed to be maintenance free and therefore suit applications that require high power density and reliability; also being lightweight they are well-suited for mobile applications.
The PowerGear range of miniature gearboxes is manufactured by MS-Graessner, and is available in the UK through Drive Lines Technologies.
Ian Carr, Managing Director of Drive Lines, commented: “Dimensions, weight, and precision – the PowerGear Miniature sets new standards. Throughout the range, the compact design gives an incredibly small installation size and the aluminium housings make them ultra-lightweight. Their performance resets user expectations in terms of both power and precision.”
Carr continued: “The unique design of PowerGear Miniature is opening up a vast range of new applications. We expect them to become popular in areas such as medical equipment, food processing, packaging and specialist automation.”
Design features of the PowerGear Miniature range that makes it different includes a case-hardened bevel gear tooth system, a friction locked shaft and bevel gear fit and an extremely lightweight aluminium housing. This ensures low backlash and high transmission accuracy alongside an energy efficiency of 98%. Lubrication is based on long life maintenance free synthetic oil.
PowerGear Miniature is available in three sizes, the smallest, P27 has a footprint of 27mm2; it is offered with two ratio options, 1:1 and 1.5:1, with nominal output torque being 3.5Nm. The larger P33 and the P45 are both available with five ratio options, 1:1, 1.5:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 and they have nominal output torques of 5 and 16Nm respectively. Input speed for all of them is up to 7500rpm.
Carr concluded: “The Powergear Miniatures are offered in a standard range but are also suitable for customisation so that they perfectly match the needs of individual applications.”
