Reliability of high speed trains sustained through gearbox bearings
More than 1,300 axlebox bearings and gearbox bearing sets have been successfully delivered to Hitachi Rail Europe’s flagship train maintenance centre in Ashford, by Schaeffler (UK). As part of an on-going bogie overhaul programme of Hitachi Rail Europe’s Class 395 ‘Javelin’ high speed trains further deliveries are planned this year.
Touch panel PCs for railway applications
The BYTEM-123-PC and BYTEM-103-PC are two touch panel PCs recently introduced by IBASE Technology and are based on the quad-core Intel Atom processor E3845 and are EN50155 certified for railway applications.
Power choke coils feature high heat resistance
A series of SMD-type power choke coils for automotive applications using a Metal Composite Core (MC) is now available from Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe. The LP series products benefit from a low profile (3 and 4mm maximum height) and feature high heat resistance (designed for operation up to +155°C) and high reliability.
Automotive surface mount varistors operate up to +150°C
Stackpole has announced its AVY series of automotive surface mount varistors that operate at temperatures up to +150°C. This higher operating temperature allows their use in a wider range of environments compared to most varistors that can only operate at temperatures up to +125°C. The AVY series is rated for up to 2,000A of current and 25J load dump energy.
Automotive actuators improve haptic accelerator pedals
TT Electronics has introduced automotive actuators for next-gen haptic accelerator pedals. The TT Electronics actuators tackle the weak spots of systems currently available on the market, offering a total weight under 400g, a significant reduction from the total weight of comparable pedals.
