Rugged DC/DC Converters are railway approved
A selection of DC/DC Converters continues to be offered by Power Sources Unlimited. They have been designed specifically for railway applications from Cincon Electronics. All models meet EN 50155 railway standard and feature ultra-wide input range with a 110VDC nominal input. The rugged industry standard 2”x1”, quarter and half brick packages offer isolated output power solutions ranging from 20-50W.
Automotive-grade LIN SIP solution has touch hardware support
An automotive-grade Local Interconnect Network (LIN) System in Package (SiP) solution with integrated touch hardware support has been announced by Microchip. The SAMHA1GxxA microcontroller family contains capacitive touch hardware support, an event system and complex PWM capability.
Stack certified for use in safety-critical IoT systems
It has been announced that Express Logics high-performance NetX Duo TCP/IP stack is the first commercial embedded TCP/IP stack to be certified by SGS-TÜV Saar for embedded development in safety-critical systems. NetX Duo already has phase II IPv6–Ready Logo certification as well as IXIA IxANVL TCP/IP RFC validation.
Future technology development agreed to optimise train flow
Provider of Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), Kontron, announced that it has signed a framework agreement with Bombardier Transportation. This agreement extends the previous preferred technology supplier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) going beyond the initial rail control solutions scope into a joint design and development relationship.
Thin-walled cables lighten the load for Swiss train routes
Space savings and a weight reduction of several hundred kilos per train have made HUBER+SUHNER’s lightweight, thin-walled RADOX Tenuis-TW cables the choice for Swiss manufacturer Stadler’s large-scale contract with SBB. Stadler Rail is delivering 29 11-unit trains for the Swiss railway company to operate on its high speed and transalpine routes from Zurich to Milan.
VDC components added to dual-function automotive series varistors
The new 26VDC components from AVX Corporation have added to its dual-function TransFeed and TransFeed Automotive Series varistors. This has extended the series’ EMI/RFI filtering and bi-directional ESD protection capabilities to a broader range of applications including - automobiles, power supplies, computers, medical instruments, smartphones, multimedia add-on cards, barcode scanners, remote terminals, transceivers and test equipment...
Connectors designed for automotive applications
The range of compact and reliable connectors from ERNI Electronics has expanded. The MaxiBridge (2.54mm pitch) and MiniBridge (1.27mm) series will shortly be joined by the MicroBridge series in a 1.27mm pitch. The MicroBridge product family has been designed specifically with the requirements of customers from the automotive industry in mind.
Input bricks optimised for railway applications
Two board mounted DC/DC converters to power industrial and railway applications have been introduced by Powerbox: the wide input PQB50U-72S and the high power density PFB600W-110S. With an input of 12:1 (14 to 160V) the PQB50U-72S delivers 50W in quarter brick packaging, bringing simplicity to power designers addressing EN50155 applications (one unit covering all bus voltages).
Railways and their requirements
Cases that are highly resilient are required for railway applications. A development contract from Siemens has been secured by the POLYRACK TECH-GROUP, for currently 2,500 constructed case systems with integrated train protection components – and mastered the tool making alone in well below the standard time.
DB11 engine castings partner confirmed
It has been confirmed that the preferred engine castings partner for the new DB11 from Aston Martin is Grainger & Worrall (GW). At the heart of this iconic sports car is the new 5.2l twin turbocharged V12. This engine sets even higher performance standards for the latest DB iteration, the cleanest, most fuel efficient, powerful and fastest accelerating model in Aston Martin’s history.
