Farnell broadens energy-saving product selection
In a significant stride towards assisting enterprises in curtailing energy consumption and achieving sustainability objectives, Farnell has declared an expansion of its portfolio of energy-conserving products.
This initiative comes as a proactive response to the dual challenges of escalating energy costs and the stringent net-zero objectives set by governments.
The industrial sector is notably a major energy consumer, accounting for 37% of total energy demand. A considerable portion, estimated at 30%, of the energy utilised in manufacturing and commercial buildings, is unfortunately wasted, impacting both the environment and financial resources.
Catalogue of energy-efficient products expanded
Farnell’s latest move to broaden its range of energy-efficient products aims to equip customers with cutting-edge tools that can markedly reduce energy consumption, thus leading to substantial cost savings.
The product expansion targets eight essential categories, each selected to support customers in making effective progress towards energy efficiency:
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs): Capable of curtailing energy use by up to 60%, with products such as ATV320U55N4B and ATV12P075M2.
- Energy-efficient lighting systems: Offering potential energy savings of up to 60%, for example, XVB-C2B5 and 1SFA619600R6101.
- Power-efficient relays: With the ability to lower power usage by as much as 60%, including models P7SA-14F-ND-PU DC24 and XW5T-S4.0-2.2-1.
- Energy-saving motor systems: These systems, such as 6SL32101KE238AF1 and ATV320U40S6C, can cut electricity consumption by up to 50%.
- Occupancy sensors: Capable of reducing energy consumption by up to 50%, with options like T9602-5-D and 2JCIE-BU01.
- Industrial intelligent power supplies: Designed to slash energy usage by up to 50%, such as SDR-240-24 and AQM250PS24C2.
Modern programmable logic controllers (PLCs): These can aid in achieving up to a 30% reduction in energy use, with offerings including 6ES7214-1AG40-0XB0 and 6ES7223-1PL32-0XB0.
Energy monitoring systems: Devices like 722-0004 and H3DS-ML can lead to up to 30% energy savings via precise temperature regulation.
Simon Meadmore, Vice President of Product and Supplier Management at Farnell, commented: “Our expanded product proposition in this industrial sector, coupled with our heightened focus on power-efficient solutions, reflects our response to the escalating energy costs and growing significance of climate change. With this expanded range of energy-efficient products, Farnell is reinforcing its commitment to environmental responsibility, delivering business solutions that align with sustainability goals while driving operational efficiency for our customers.”
