Scientists from Hasselt University, imec, VITO and international partners within the PERCISTAND consortium have become the first to achieve an energy efficiency of 25% with a thin-film solar cell. This means that this wafer-thin solar cell generates as much energy as a traditional silicon solar cell. 

Spin, the micro-mobility unit of Ford Motor Company that crafted the first stationless micro-mobility permit in the United States of America, has announced its international expansion plans. The company will launch its first international fleet of dockless electric scooters in Cologne, Germany this Spring, with other German cities soon to follow.

The report, ‘Global Energy Storage Market 2019’, estimates that the three main drivers of energy storage, mobility applications, electronic devices, and stationary storage, will reach an annual combined deployment level of 3,046 GWh over the next 15 years, up from the current 164GWh, with mobility applications making up the lion’s share of the growth.

Vattenfall has been selected by Midlothian Council as its energy partner in a 50/50 joint venture set to drive the shift towards low carbon heating living in the region.
