Switches certified for UC APL
The nGenius 3900 Series Packet Flow Switches (PFS) from NETSCOUT have been certified by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for the Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC APL) and approved by the National Information Assurance Partner (NIAP) as Common Criteria certified against the requirements of Protection Profile for Network Devices v1.1. Last year, these products were certified - nGeniusONE Service Assurance Management platform and InfiniStream appliance.
The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation is an internationally approved set of security standards that provide a clear evaluation of the security capabilities of IT products. Government and associated agencies can deploy the nGenius 3900 Series PFS with confidence, knowing the 3900 series PFS meets the rigorous testing and technical requirements for interoperability and security mandated by the DoD, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and National Security Agency (NSA).
Today, 26 countries recognise the Common Criteria ISO standard (ISO/IEC15408) used by governments and other organisations to assess the security and assurance of technology products. Common Criteria provides assurance that the process of specification, implementation and evaluation of a computer security product has been conducted in a rigorous and standard manner.
“Our most security conscious customers, especially federal and government agencies, recognise the importance of Common Criteria certification,” said Sarah Banks, nGenius 3900 series Director of Product Management, at NETSCOUT. “Certification of the nGenius 3900 Series PFS validates the rigour and focus we have on ensuring IT security is built into our portfolio.”
The nGenius 3900 Series PFS streamlines, extends and scales packet flow access across the enterprise to enhance the scope and efficacy of network monitoring, performance management and security strategies. A highly scalable solution that supports the breadth of 1, 10, 40 and 100G interfaces with high performance switching, it enables IT organisations to extend efficiency of 1/10G tools on 10/40 G links. The 3900 series PFS are optimised to work with NETSCOUT’s InfiniStream appliances and nGeniusONE Service Assurance platform for critical alarm monitoring, real time metrics of switched traffic and streamlined switch management.
The UC APL certification creates and maintains a single consolidated list of products that have successfully completed Interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) certification. It assures that products have been independently verified to be compliant with the requirements of the Defense Information Systems Network, which is mandatory in order to connect to the DISA network. DISA provides information technology and communication support to the US President, Vice President, Secretary of Defense, military service and combatant commands and connects to all branches of the military in addition to related services, agencies and coalition partners.
